Seeking Guidance from Above

Is it possible to be too good at doing what's right?

I asked myself this question when I was writing my book, "Whispers Beneath the Baobab". As a pastor, author, and speaker, I've had my fair share of doubts and struggles. But in that season, I found myself questioning whether my attempts to do good were actually taking me further away from God's plan.

It wasn't that I was doing harm or intentionally disobeying His will. No, it was the opposite – I was trying so hard to be a good Christian, to serve Him and others selflessly, that I forgot to seek His guidance in my daily life. I thought prayer was just about talking to God, not listening for His whispers beneath the chaos.

In hindsight, I realize now that this misconception stemmed from my own pride and a perceived need to control every aspect of my life. But when I began to slow down, quiet myself before Him, and truly listen, everything changed. The noise in my head gave way to the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit, guiding me through even the most mundane decisions.

As I shared this lesson with readers in "Whispers Beneath the Baobab", I discovered that seeking guidance from above wasn't just about getting answers; it was about surrendering our plans and trusting God's wisdom. It's a daily practice, one that requires vulnerability, humility, and a willingness to be led by His Spirit.

I've learned that prayer isn't a one-way conversation – it's a dialogue that involves listening for His guidance in the midst of life's chaos. When we make time to hear His whispers, we'll find ourselves empowered to make decisions that align with His perfect will.

As I look back on my journey, I'm reminded that seeking guidance from above is an ongoing process, not a one-time event. It takes courage to acknowledge our limitations and surrender to God's wisdom. But when we do, we'll discover the peace, clarity, and direction that only He can provide.

So, dear friends, take time to listen for His whispers today. Ask yourself: "Is it possible to be too good at doing what's right?" And then, pause, quiet your heart before Him, and wait for His guidance. You never know how His wisdom might change the course of your life.
