Letting go is like watching a ship sail away, leaving us with waves
You’ve been there, haven’t you? The moment when all your efforts feel like they’re just not enough. Maybe it’s the end of a long relationship, or perhaps you’re trying to find your way after losing something dear to you. There are times when letting go feels impossible because we pour so much into things that sometimes, even our heart tells us it's time to release.
But Harriet Tubman faced something similar in her journey. She risked everything to fight for freedom and justice, knowing the stakes were high. Yet, she understood that at certain points, we must let go of what keeps us bound to stay free. Her resilience is a testament to how letting go can lead to liberation.
Letting go doesn’t mean you are weak; it means you’re wise. It’s about recognizing when holding on causes more harm than good. You might find yourself in a situation where every attempt to hold onto something only creates more tension, like trying to close a door that won’t budge. When this happens, it’s time to step back and ask, “What am I truly gaining by holding onto this?”
Practical truth: often, the act of letting go can be both painful and liberating. It's freeing to let go of expectations others have for you or that you've set for yourself. Sometimes, the most significant breakthroughs come when we release what no longer serves us. Just as a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly by shedding its cocoon, so too do we grow through letting go.
So, as you find yourself in those difficult seasons, remember: it’s okay to let things go. It might feel like giving up, but it's actually stepping forward towards something greater. Let the waves of change wash over you and carry you closer to your true self.
As you move forward, remember that letting go is a process. It takes courage, patience, and sometimes, painful moments. But with each step you take towards releasing what no longer serves you, you open up space for new beginnings.
