When life drops you into unexpected seasons, how do you find your way back to light? Sometimes, it’s hard to see. But what if I told you that gratitude could be a lamp leading the way through those dark times?

You’ve been facing challenges recently—maybe financial struggles or personal losses. It’s tough. Maybe you feel like every day just piles more onto the pile of burdens. You’re not alone in this struggle, and it’s okay to acknowledge how hard things are.

But here's a shift: instead of seeing your circumstances as insurmountable, think about what blessings you still have. Even small things can bring joy—maybe a cup of coffee early in the morning, or the sound of birds outside on a clear day. It’s easy to overlook these simple gifts when weighed down by heavier burdens.

Practical truth: Harriet Tubman is an inspiring example of resilience and gratitude. Born into slavery, she found a way not just to survive but to thrive with thanksgiving. In 1849, after escaping, she returned multiple times to the South to help others gain freedom. Each step back was filled with risk, yet she carried her faith and gratitude like a beacon.

As Tubman’s story shows us, even in the midst of trials, there is still room for thanksgiving. So when you feel overwhelmed, take a moment to list three things for which you’re grateful. It could be as simple as having food on your table or someone who loves you by your side.

Look forward with hope now. Gratitude isn’t just about finding happiness in the midst of despair; it’s also about changing how you view challenges. View each struggle not as a mountain to climb, but as steps leading upward toward growth and wisdom. Every difficult season is an opportunity for transformation, if only we can hold onto gratitude enough to see beyond the moment.

You are stronger than you think. Keep moving forward with that lamp of gratitude shining through your challenges. Remember, every day brings new possibilities. Gratitude doesn’t erase pain but it can turn your lens toward hope and help you find joy in unexpected places.
