Finding Peace in the Midst of Chaos
I used to think that peace was the absence of chaos. You know, when life is calm, serene, and predictable – like a still pond on a windless day. But as I've walked this journey with God, I've come to realize that His peace isn't just about avoiding turbulence; it's about finding stability in the midst of the storm.
In my book, "Whispers Beneath the Baobab", I share stories of how I've struggled to find peace amidst life's uncertainties. As a pastor, author, and speaker, my role often requires me to be "on" – to be wise, compassionate, and encouraging all the time. But the truth is, even with a heart for ministry, I'm just as human as anyone else. And there have been times when the weight of responsibility felt crushing, leaving me feeling lost and anxious.
One such season was when my family faced a series of unexpected challenges. My husband's business was struggling, our children were dealing with bullying at school, and I was shouldering the bulk of our household responsibilities. It felt like the entire world was conspiring against us. In those moments, it would have been easy to give in to despair, wondering why God allowed these trials.
But as I turned to Him in prayer, I began to realize that He wasn't just a distant observer; He was actively working in our midst. His peace isn't something we can conjure up on our own; it's a gift from above, available to us when we seek Him and His wisdom. So, I started seeking – not just for answers, but for the stillness that only comes from being near God.
It wasn't easy, of course. There were times when my mind felt like a jumble of emotions, and my heart was heavy with worry. But in those moments, I would take a deep breath, focus on Jesus' presence, and invite His peace to fill me. And slowly but surely, the chaos began to recede, replaced by a sense of calm that only He could provide.
The truth is, finding peace doesn't mean we'll never face challenges again. But it does mean that we can walk through those trials with confidence, knowing that God's presence is always with us, guiding and directing us toward His best for our lives.
So, friend, if you're feeling overwhelmed by the turbulence of life right now, take heart. You are not alone. And remember, peace is not just a distant concept – it's a tangible reality available to you, even in the midst of chaos. Just seek Jesus, and let Him fill your heart with His gentle calm.
