Cultivating a Heart of Humility
When I was writing my book, "Whispers Beneath the Baobab", I couldn't help but think about the times in my life when I struggled with pride and arrogance. One particular moment that stands out was during a particularly challenging season at our church. As the pastor's wife, I was shouldering more responsibilities than usual, and my plate was full to the brim. In the midst of all this busyness, I received an email from a well-meaning friend, offering her assistance and support. At first, my response was defensive – I didn't need anyone's help; I could handle it all on my own.
But then I paused. And in that pause, I remembered what Jesus said in Luke 10:18 - "The one who is the greatest among you will be your servant." That moment, as I sat amidst chaos and uncertainty, I realized that my attempts to control everything were actually a form of pride. It was an opportunity for me to learn the value of humility.
As I began to slow down and acknowledge my limitations, I discovered that seeking help from others wasn't weakness – it was wisdom. When we admit our need for others, we create space for God to work in and through us. In those moments of vulnerability, we can experience the deepening of our relationship with Him.
In "Whispers Beneath the Baobab", I share more about this journey towards humility. It's not an easy path, but it's one that brings freedom and joy. As you read about my struggles and triumphs, I pray that you'll be encouraged to embark on this same journey of cultivating a heart of humility.
May God bless you with the wisdom to recognize your own limitations and the courage to seek help from others. And may His presence fill every moment of your day, reminding you that you are loved and valued just as you are – flaws and all.
